Guide to Apprenticeship Enrolments
Guide to Apprenticeship Enrolments
Once we’ve received your application, a Training Advisor will contact both you and your employer to confirm the details and explain what happens next.
Before your enrolment visit, your Training Advisor will ask you to send in some important documents. These will be checked in advance to make sure everything is in place and you’re on the right course.
Once that’s done, they’ll arrange a time to visit you at work to complete your enrolment and get everything ready for the start of your apprenticeship. It’s important that you and your employer are both available during this visit.
What to expect
Before your enrolment visit, you’ll need to send us copies of the following:
-
Your qualification certificates
-
Your employment contract
-
Photo ID (to confirm your age and address)
-
Proof that you can live and work in the UK
During the meeting your Training Advisor will meet with you and your employer to go over your job role and what your apprenticeship will involve. They will confirm details with your employer and check that everything is in place to start your apprenticeship.
To complete the enrolment process your Training Advisor will take your photo for your college ID card. Once this is printed you’ll receive your ID and lanyard.
Your welcome pack will be delivered by your Training Advisor at your first progress review, which will take place at your workplace within the first 31 days of starting your apprenticeship.
Your induction will be arranged by your Training Advisor and can be delivered online, or in person at one of our campuses, depending on what works best for you and your employer.
At induction, your Training Advisor will walk you through what to expect and help you get started. This includes:
-
A look at what your apprenticeship involves, including key dates, tasks, and who’s responsible for what.
-
Completing your initial assessments, if these haven’t already been completed.
-
How to use the main systems like Google Suite and Maytas Hub.
-
Important information on health and safety, safeguarding, and how to access wellbeing and learning support services.
-
Details about your assessment plan, college sessions (if you attend any), and who to contact if you need help.
-
Completing any paperwork you haven’t already done, like learner agreements or declarations.
-
Having your photo taken (if not already done), and getting your college ID card and lanyard.
Your induction must be completed before or within 31 days of starting your apprenticeship.

What if I Don’t Have an Employer Yet?
You must be in employment to start an apprenticeship. If you don’t have an employer yet, we can support you in finding one. If an apprenticeship isn’t immediately possible, we’ll help you explore other options, such as a full-time FE course that supports your longer-term goals. In some cases, you may also be able to start elements of your learning while waiting for a placement.

FAQs

No, apprenticeships are work-based qualifications, so most of your learning takes place in the workplace. Typically, learners attend college one day per week, but this can vary depending on the subject. Your Training Advisor will explain the delivery model for your specific programme.
-
No, apprenticeships are open to people of all ages. Whether you’re just starting out or changing career direction, we’ll support you throughout your apprenticeship journey.

Apprenticeships are fully funded, so there’s no enrolment fee, and you’ll have free access to learning platforms and resources. Some courses may require you to purchase your own equipment or personal protective clothing, and in some cases, you may need to register with a professional or industry body as part of your qualification.
Your Training Advisor will explain if this applies to your programme, and you can also find this information on our website under each course description.
-
Initial assessments are just a way for us to understand your current level. Don’t worry, they’re not pass or fail. They help your Training Advisor provide the right support for your learning.
