Ace in a classroom with people listening around tables

ILS (independent learning skills) students have been learning about Black History Month, with a particular focus on the achievements and contributions of Black Welsh people.

The group was delighted to welcome Ace Prescod, a student from the vocational studies level one group, to joined them in sharing a presentation which focussed on two influential music figures — Jamaican music legend Bob Marley and Barbadian singer Rihannaexploring their impact on culture and identity.

Her enthusiasm and thoughtful presentation really impressed everyone. “She was an absolute star,” said tutor Louisa Allison-Bergin.

Her talk inspired thoughtful discussion among the group, helping everyone appreciate the rich connections between culture, identity, and music.

Ace has family roots in Guyana, near Barbados.
