Representatives from the company guided them through a practical workshop, testing their cutting-in skills and painting techniques in a fun competition at the end of the day.

Investing in future industry professionals, the company also presented the group with a £500 cheque which will be a considerable benefit to the department.

Steve Keeley, painting and decorating lecturer at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “I got in touch with Valspar Trade after seeing them facilitate a similar session at another college.

“I was really pleased that they got back to me with an eagerness to visit and work with our students.

“The group engaged really well with the session and enjoyed learning more industry insights and skills, which validated what they are currently learning at college.

“Students also commented how much they liked the feel and coverage of the paint and everyone really enjoyed the day and said the content was interesting, relevant and fun.

“From colour theory to paint durability, to which paints work better on different surfaces, the day covered a full range of applied skills needed for professional decorating.”
