Join our E-Sports Academy

Our E-sports Academy offers exciting opportunities for all students, whether you’re a casual gamer, a competitive player, or just curious to try something new. You don’t need to be studying IT to take part, our academy is open to all students no matter your course or experience level.

We have E-sports facilities at our Graig and Cardigan campuses, so come and see us if you’re interested in joining a team, trying out for a tournament, or just coming along to play.

Why play E-Sports?

E-sports is one of our most popular extra-curricular activities, giving you the chance to:

  • Play competitively in national and international tournaments
  • Join regular training sessions or casual gaming days
  • Make new friends from other courses across the college
  • Develop valuable soft skills like teamwork, decision making and communication
  • Access professional-level equipment in our custom-built e-sports suites

Whether you’re serious about competing or just love gaming, there’s a place for you here.

  • Our teams compete in the British E-sports Student Championships, playing:

    • Valorant
    • League of Legends
    • Overwatch 2
    • Rocket League
    • EA FC

    We also take part in other leagues and in-house tournaments with games like:

    • Apex Legends
    • PUBG Mobile
    • Street Fighter
    • Smash Bros
    • Fortnite
    • Marvel Rivals
    • Williams F1 & Assetto Corsa (Racing Sims)
  • We have everything you need to game, train, and compete like a pro, including:

    • High-spec Alienware gaming PCs (Nvidia RTX 20 series, Intel i7 CPUs)
    • 240Hz gaming monitors
    • HyperX peripherals
    • VR Stations
    • eSIM Racing Simulators
  • Team Training Sessions:

    Most lunchtimes and after college - Times vary slightly each term, so come speak to us to find out more if you’d like to join a team.

    E-sports competitions:

    Competitions usually take place on Wednesday and Thursdays. You can also check out what’s happening nationally: British E-sports Student Champs

    Casual sessions:

    We run ‘have a go’ sessions, weekly casual gaming days and summer clubs for gamers who want to join the fun but not the teams. Come and speak to the IT lecturers on your campus to find out more.

    Please be aware that for some after college sessions you’ll need to make sure you can arrange transport home.

E-Sports and Education

E-sports isn’t just about playing games, it’s a growing industry with real career paths. You’ll build transferable skills such as:

  • Teamwork and communication
  • Strategy and decision making
  • Digital literacy
  • Content creation

On our Graig Campus we offer a dedicated Level 3 E-sports course, and on our Cardigan campus we offer E-sports units on our IT courses.

Our Esports staff and Academy students recently attended BETT 2025, where our CSG Rocket League Team competed in this year’s British Esports Student Champs Rocket League Tournament.

At Coleg Ceredigion, a new kind of competition is bringing students together in a growing industry with opportunities for careers in game development and streaming and event management.
