
Creative Industries Level 1

This level one creative industries course will give you a step up the ladder into an exciting world of pure creativity and exploration.
The awarding body is the University of the Arts London (UAL) and this course has been recently designed to give you all the skills and tools necessary to work within creative Industries ranging from performing and production arts, music technology and creative media. The skills you will develop range from editing, live broadcast, animation, film production, special FX as well as acting and performance skills, design skills and music production.

What you will learn
We have fully-equipped computer suites, where you will find the latest software and state-of-the-art technology. Our on site recording rooms and film studio host industry standard and professional equipment, which you can sign out, free of charge. You will also have access to the Adobe suite at home and in college; Toon Boom Studio and Dragon Studio Animation Software. Our Apple Macintosh computer suites run Adobe Premiere, Prelude, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Audition, Encore, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Logic X programs.
Our Creative Media & Production Department has strong connections right across the industry, so you will benefit from industry specialists and networking opportunities. We also have a brand new, state of the art theatre on site, where you will be able to develop skills within performance and production arts.
The course starts with two months of skills delivery where you will learn how to use the equipment and the software, and then you start making content straight away that is in line with your interests.
There are three projects that run throughout the year and you choose your content from a variety of sectors within art, design and media.
You then finish the year with a Final Major Project where you choose an area of interest and create your own project.
You will also be expected to attend lessons for mathematics and English in order to develop your skills within these areas - both a crucial element of the course.
Upon completion of the Level 1 course, you have a variety of options. You could choose to go into the world of work, apply for an apprenticeship, or you will have the opportunity to go on to a Level 2 course, within performing arts, music technology or creative media with a merit profile pass.
All units are assessed internally. You have to pass all units, and your final grade comes from your Final Major Project at the end of the academic year.
All applicants will need to bring a portfolio of media or art and design work to their interview, where suitability for this course will be assessed. Applicants will need to have a minimum of three GCSEs at grades A* - G which must include English/Welsh first language and maths.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
You will be expected to provide yourself a set of headphones, SD card and memory stick at an estimated cost of £60.00 maximum.
