Are you interested in assessing in a classroom or in a professional training environment?
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals who are either starting or currently working as assessors in vocational education, training, or workplace settings.
This programme provides learners with the knowledge and skills to effectively assess learners’ occupational competence in the workplace and/or vocationally related achievement in training environments. It is suitable for those assessing both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Our Level 3 Programme includes two mandatory units that will include:

Unit 301 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
-
Unit 302 Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
or
-
Unit 303 Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
The qualification is delivered using Google Meet, Google Classroom and MyDrive with a mixture of online group delivery and one to one support sessions.
By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:

Understand the principles and practices of assessment, plan and prepare assessments of occupational competence and/or vocational achievement.

Assess learners’ performance and knowledge using a range of assessment methods and provide constructive feedback and support learner progression.

Maintain accurate records in accordance with organisational and awarding body requirements and apply quality assurance principles to ensure consistency and reliability of assessment decisions.
Successful completion of this qualification may lead to:
- Employment as a qualified assessor in a workplace or training setting.
- Progression to higher-level qualifications such as the Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA).
- Enhanced career development within education, training, and vocational assessment roles.
The method of assessment for the qualification is through a variety of different assessments including written assignments, observation of assessment practice, professional discussions and reflective accounts and a portfolio of evidence demonstrating assessor competence.
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification, however the centre, upon interview, will assess that the skills, potential and opportunity are available to the candidate. This will include a placement for practical assessments to be undertaken arranged by the learner.
