A journey of learning and new beginnings

Asia joined Learn Digital Direct at Penlan Library in June last year, shortly after relocating to Swansea as a refugee from the war in Syria. 

Though initially quiet, Asia had a good level of English and, after reviewing her options, chose to pursue a higher-level course.

Since then, Asia has proven to be an exceptional student, showing deep commitment and a strong work ethic. Alongside her academic progress, her personal confidence has flourished; she has formed new friendships and even engaged her family in library activities during the school holidays.

Asia feels the program has boosted her social skills and self-assurance, while also enabling her to better support her children with their schoolwork. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue her studies at college to earn a childcare qualification, alongside Essential Skills Wales (ESW) or GCSEs.
