Brandon coming off stage giving a big wave to the audience

An accountancy student at Coleg Sir Gâr has won the Finance Awards Wales, Accounting Technician of the Year award, for his AAT studies and his role at Ivolve Care & Support.

Brandon Ayres, 21, is studying an Association of Accountancy Technician (AAT) level four diploma in professional accountancy at the college’s Pibwrlwyd campus.

From experienced leaders to rising stars, the Finance Awards Wales event invited organisations and individuals from across the Welsh finance community to put forward the people whose work truly makes a difference.

Brandon’s trail of success at college includes achieving a silver in the Welsh final of WorldSkills UK as part of a two-person team, qualifying as a 2025 WorldSkills award finalist and he was shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year in the AAT Awards.

His work at Ivolve Care & Support has brought praise on Brandon’s work where he proactively seeks extra work, improves processes and enhances existing systems whilst always supporting colleagues and training staff.

Within a year, Brandon became the accounts payable lead and delegates work to others whilst still holding responsibility.

Rebecca Jeffreys-Carter, Coleg Sir Gâr accountancy lecturer said: “This is such a well-deserved award which highlights Brandon’s work ethic and resilience.

“I feel that Brandon has an incredible future ahead of him within the finance industry and wish him the very best for his studies and his future career progression.”

Fellow accountancy student Catrin Lewis, who works for Hywel Dda University Health Board, also won a highly commended in the awards Finance Apprentice of the Year category.
