Students in the Secret PlantHouse shop standing in a line with Cameron the owner in a dimly lit calm environment

Students at Coleg Sir Gâr have been working with local company The Secret PlantHouse in Llanelli, to give them experience in presenting visual merchandising ideas.

As part of their course, final year business students, following a level three diploma pathway, study visual merchandising as a unit.

Coleg Sir Gâr lecturer Amanda Morgan approached The Secret PlantHouse to see if the business could support the students in their project and they were enthused to help.

Students visited the shop in February and talked to owner Cameron Reardon about his business and what kind of image he wanted to create for his store, and they returned in May to individually pitch their ideas.

Cameron Reardon, managing director and co-founder of The Secret PlantHouse said: “I was genuinely blown away by some of the ideas the students came up with.

“There were suggestions we hadn’t even considered ourselves, from QR code plant care guides to new signage and merchandising ideas that could really improve the customer experience in store.

“The standard of the presentations was fantastic and it’s brilliant to see so much creativity and confidence from young people.

“We’re excited to put some of their ideas into practice and look forward to working with Coleg Sir Gâr again in the future.”

Amanda Morgan, Coleg Sir Gâr lecturer added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Cameron for being part of the students’ project and for giving them some business insight.

“It’s important that we provide as much real-life experience for our students and so working with businesses is key to their journey with us.”
