Students use their business skills to deliver successful community fundraiser
Coleg Ceredigion business students have raised over £450 in an event they organised as part of their course.
First year students Talia Evans, Immy Usher, Jena Curran and Eliana Keeler planned and managed a community event at The Club at Penrhyncoch, bringing people together for an evening of food, bingo and a raffle.
The money raised will go towards an educational trip next year with a proportion being donated to the British Heart Foundation.
Business lecturer Emma Evans is proud of their achievements, she said: “The event proved a great success, however, the real story behind the evening was not only the money raised, but the strong sense of community support and partnership that helped make it possible.
“Through their hard work, organisation and communication, the students secured the support of four key sponsors, with a further 11 local businesses also contributing to the event.
“This level of backing highlighted the positive relationships built between the students, the college course and the wider local community.”
The evening was delivered in a fun, open and welcoming way, creating an atmosphere that encouraged people to come together, support the cause and enjoy themselves at the same time.
For the students, it was also a valuable opportunity to apply the business skills they have been developing in their course in a real-life setting, including planning, teamwork, promotion, problem-solving and working with external partners.
Events such as this show how business education can go beyond the classroom, giving students the chance to make a genuine impact while building confidence and experience for themselves.
The success of the evening reflected not only the effort of the four students involved, but also the generosity of local businesses and the strength of community spirit.
Coleg Ceredigion and its business students would like to thank sponsors Bron Dydd Gwener, Sophie’s, KM Flooring and Rebus.
As well as those who donated gifts for raffle prizes, namely Kwik Fit and Aberpoeth along with Pink Cow, Broc y Môr, Penrhyn Shop, Dinas a Môr, Wild West Cymru, Polly’s, and hand-painted gin glass by Janet.
