This qualification will allow you to develop and extend your digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries, such as software and computer programming, network support and digital design.
If you are looking for a practical, vocational route to a career in IT this course is just right for you. Available at both Level 2 and Level 3, the course will enhance your employability by developing the skills you need to excel in a wide range of technologies. Students who successfully complete the Level 2 qualification generally progress to the Level 3 course and into higher education and employment.

What you will learn
Our Level 2 Programme includes a mandatory unit along with optional units that relate directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers and cover a wide range and use of different digital technologies, systems and software.
IT is at the heart of business; the UK’s tech sector is growing at 2.5 times the rate of the rest of the economy creating exciting new jobs. This qualification is also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing.
The knowledge and skills gained will enable you to progress to more advanced Level 3 qualifications or enter employment in the IT sector, either directly or through an apprenticeship.

The majority of learners use this course to prepare them to move to the L3 Extended Diploma in IT and then on to Higher Education or an apprenticeship. Others choose an alternative route to further study pathways or full-time employment.
The method of assessment for the qualifications is through a portfolio of evidence.
4 GCSEs grades A* - D with 2Cs, one being either English/Welsh (1st language) or Maths. Or successful completion of L1 Vocational qualification in relevant area at Merit or above.
You will have access to a range of equipment and resources at the college, which should be sufficient for you to complete your programme. However, it is possible you may incur additional costs for printing or course related excursions.
All learners are required to pay an administration fee of £25 prior to enrolment.
You will need to provide your own stationery and may also incur costs if the department arranges educational visits.
