
Introduction to Jewellery Making

Suitable for beginners, this 10 week course will teach you the fundamentals of introductory jewellery making skills to enable you to make your own individual, wearable piece of jewellery.
From design development to the finished piece, you will be guided by your tutor during weekly demonstrations, working with base metals to practice and explore a variety of core processes in order to bring your ideas to life.
This is an ideal way to start your creative journey into body adornment and to learn some of the traditional skills of jewellery making.
Class sizes are small to allow plenty of one to one tuition.

Programme Description
In this class you will practice traditional jewellery making skills under the guidance of the tutor to create bespoke pieces based on your own idea development. Skills taught will include key basics from using a piercing saw to cut metal shapes, texturing the surface of metal and soldering, allowing students to experiment with different designs, from small and intricate to chunky and statement, in order to create finished pieces.
The course is held in the college’s jewellery workshop at Carmarthen School of Art, which is a vibrant, purpose built art school teaching creative courses across all art and design disciplines.
If you were under 19 years on the 1st of September 2025 the cost will only be £25.
ls are supplied but your tutor will inform you of any additional materials you will need to purchase yourself.
Places are limited on each course to allow plenty of one-to-one tuition. If a course is fully subscribed when you apply, you will be placed on a reserve list and notified when a place becomes available.
