AAT does not set any prerequisites for studying the AAT Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that you begin your studies with a good standard of English and Maths. Accountants work at the heart of a business and are expected to communicate information clearly and appropriately to a given audience. Ideally, you should also have completed AAT Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. AAT recommends that you use AAT Skill Check to ensure you are ready to start a particular qualification.

Students with relevant school or college qualifications, a degree, or some accounting experience may, in certain circumstances, be entitled to claim exemptions.

Students need to provide their own stationery and textbooks (if required).  Additional costs may be incurred if the department arranges educational visits.
