Part Time Hairdressing - Level 2 Certificate in Women's Hairdressing

This is a part time hairdressing course that takes four hours a week. 

This evening hairdressing course is a level two qualification that is designed for those who have an ambition to work in the hairdressing industry. 

You will learn about basic hair treatments and build a strong foundation of skills from which you could progress to higher level courses. 

This course provides you with the practical opportunities allowing you to complete your assessments and put your skills into practice in a real hairdressing salon environment. 

Please note: cutting hair is not part of this course; you may learn basic techniques, but you will not be assessed in this area.

  • Follow Health and Safety in the Salon - An important unit studying all aspects of health, safety and policies within the industry
  • Client Consultation for hair services - Learn all about the hair and skin structures, the science behind the hair growth cycle, and how to carry out professional, structured consultations for all your clients. Learn and carry out a range of tests on the hair, skin and scalp, identify and work with a range of hair types, lengths and colours.
  • Shampoo and Condition the hair and Scalp - Study the science of the products, how they work on the structure of the hair, and correct massage techniques.
  • The Art of Dressing Hair - All you need to know about blow drying, setting, styling, dressing and updos!
  • The Art of Colouring Hair - study the range and science of colouring products, how they affect the structure of the hair, the range of tests required prior to any colour service. You will also develop skills in foiling, global colour application, removal of products and correct aftercare advice for clients.

Following the course, you could progress and apply for the level two or three NVQ diploma course or gain employment in commercial salons, television, film, theatre and media work. An entrepreneurial team at the college can offer guidance on self-employment.
