You will gain real workplace experience while earning nationally recognised qualifications. You will cover computer systems, IT security and encryption, security controls, risk awareness, incident response, professional practice, health and safety, and workplace communication. You will also develop essential skills in communication and applied numeracy. Employers benefit by upskilling staff to support safer digital systems and organisational resilience.
This apprenticeship can help you progress into roles like Junior Cyber Security Analyst, IT Security Support Technician, or Security Operations Support Analyst. After completion, you may advance to the Level 4 Cyber Security Analyst Apprenticeship, higher-level digital qualifications, or specialist certifications. It provides you with a strong path to long-term employment and career growth in cyber security and digital technology.
You will engage in practical and knowledge-based learning, covering computer systems, IT security and encryption, security threats, access controls, data protection, cyber incident response, professional practice, health and safety in ICT, and workplace competence. You will develop your skills through on- and off-the-job training, supported by employer-led experience and college delivery.
You will be assessed through workplace evidence, portfolio building, professional discussions, practical tasks, internally assessed assignments, an externally assessed knowledge exam, and ongoing skills reviews. Your technical understanding and occupational competence will be evaluated.
You will not face standard additional costs, but you will need regular access to suitable IT equipment and systems as part of your employment and training. Any employer-specific requirements will be discussed at the start.
You must be aged 16 or over and employed in a relevant cyber security, IT, digital, or technical support role. While there are no formal entry requirements, GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) are recommended. You should demonstrate an interest in digital technology, problem-solving, and cyber security.
